Language learners share experiences 04 June 2008
Adult learners from around the world got together in Burton to celebrate and share their cultural backgrounds.
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) event was held at the New Baptist Church Hall on Derby Street, and organised by Burton College.
The event reflected the many different cultures of the College's ESOL learners, including Kurdish, Afghan, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Pakistani and Chinese. Work that the learners have completed was on display, together with a variety of traditional food.
Sue Tate, ESOL course leader, said: "We run a number of part time ESOL courses specially designed to improve English language skills for those who do not have English as their first language, at a variety of community venues as well as at the college."
