Children go global with teddy project - 4 January 2008

Children from Whitehouse Common Primary School in Sutton Coldfield recently welcomed Kansas bear, all the way from America, as part of their 'Voices of the World' e-twinning project, which enables pupils to learn and share songs from other languages and cultures.

Last month children learnt the Spanish national anthem which was recorded via the web. They also send and receive teddy bears from children in other countries. The bears are sent on 'fact finding missions' to learn what life is like in places around the world, before being sent back to their home school.

"The teddy bears are sent to schools in other countries and pictures are sent back of what teddy has been getting up to and learning over there," explained primary language and international links coordinator, Lisa Stevens.

"It's recorded in a diary and they will write things like how much petrol is and what life is like. It's all done through the website and we have different challenges each month.

"They really enjoy it."
