BRIDGES
BRIDGES is a Shropshire based development education initiative that aims to bring the global dimension to Shropshire through its work with local people, organisations and schools. Their resource centre sells a range of teaching resources, and hires out artefact boxes. BRIDGES staff will also visit schools and organisations to deliver support in teaching topics such as world justice and trade, fair-trade and the use of foreign artefacts.

BRIDGES is currently developing GapLink, a project which aims to raise awareness of other cultures and languages amongst Shropshire children and will help demonstrate the links between Shropshire and the rest of the world.
A pilot scheme, involving returned Gap Year students and others returned from overseas work experience, will run until March. After then, subject to funding, it is hoped that the project will link Gap Year students to local schools, link other local people with foreign work experience, develop a website for schools to show where local Shropshire people have been living and working and generate an allowance for more artefacts to be brought back for future educational purposes
