Black Country Pathfinder Project
The Black Country Pathfinder 14-19 Networks for Excellence aims to raise the profile of languages across the Black Country and broaden the variety of language learning opportunities for 14-19 year olds. Reinforcing the National Languages Strategy, this project aims to promote languages as a key economic skill and encourage life-long learning for the benefit of its young people and the economy of the region.
The Pathfinder project assembles the experience of professionals across the education and business sectors to support the needs of its young learners. 14 –19 year olds are given the opportunity to learn languages within the context of real life, real work and real experience.
The project has generated a wide range of useful resources to aid teachers and students in the development and delivery of foreign languages. For more information about the project or to view the list of available resources visit www.bcsip.org/pathfinder.
The Pathfinder project is currently funding a scheme offering work experience in Germany to lower sixth form students. The work experience exchange consists of two weeks working in a German company whilst living with the family of a German exchange student. The exchange is completed by hosting the German student for two weeks whilst they work in a company in the Black Country. This opportunity is open to all lower sixth form pupils in the region who are studying German, to request more information contact workexchange@qmgs.walsall.sch.uk
