Dedicated to the promotion modern languages and upholding professional standards amongst language practitioners, the Institute also provides a highly useful discussion forum and Linguist magazine.
The West Midlands Society is the Institute's regional branch, welcoming linguists from all walks of life who want to network with fellow language professionals. The Society holds four or five annual events, mainly in central Birmingham, where members can share their ideas and experiences and discuss a wide variety of language related issues. For further information or to become a member please visit their website.
The Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) offers guidance to those entering the profession or looking to employ the services of a translator or interpreter. The institute aims to promote high standards within the profession and serves as a meeting place for language professionals and their customers. Members of the Institute receive discounts on professional development courses, the annual conference, workshops and seminars.
The West Midlands regional group of the ITI has recently been revived, with over 40 members. If you would like to be kept informed about West Midlands events or would like to know more about joining the group please contact Ros Mendy.
The Association of Translation Companies (ATC) offers assistance and support to professional translation companies and those seeking to employ their services. Members must adhere to a strict code of conduct that reassures customers wishing to purchase their translation services.
